Towards the end of October leaning into the beginning of November, Louisiana will start to see the fall foliage. When the colors start to turn, you have to check out this one particular area, it's simply breathtaking.
The Toledo Bend Reservoir is one of the country’s largest man-made reservoirs.
There are two state parks that cover the 185,000-acre reservoir, North Toledo Bend and South Toledo Bend.
Both North and South Toledo Bend have some spectacular views in the fall.
Honestly, both parks are beautiful year-round, but it’s extra magical when the leaves are changing.
Toledo Bend is best known for its world class fishing.
You can expect to see tons of wildlife while you're here. Keep an eye out for the bald eagles that have made their nests in the area.
North Toledo Bend State Park has more than 900 acres for camping, hiking, picnicking, and biking.
North Toledo Bend has two hiking/biking trails: a 1.5 mile loop and a 4-mile loop that’s a little more challenging.
South Toledo Bend has two trails: a 1/2 mile Lakeview trail and a longer, 1.5 mile trail.
There’s also an ATV trail for off-highway vehicle.
No matter which park you go to, if you time it right, you'll be surrounded by colors like this.
The shades of reds, oranges, and yellows are just breath-taking.
And both parks have spectacular sunsets.
North Toledo Bend is located at 2907 North Toledo Park Road
Zwolle, LA 71486 and South Toledo Bend is located at 120 Bald Eagle Road, Anacoco, Louisiana 71403.
