The visitors center at the refuge can be found at 3000 Holly Beach Highway, in Hackberry, LA, where the Sabine Wetland Walkway trail is located.

This Wetland Walkway is a 1.5 mile trail that offers plenty of wildlife observation opportunities.
The wetland walkway includes an observation tower and interpretive signs to guide your walk.
There are 125,511 acres of marsh preserved here, which provides habitat to large numbers of wildlife in the area.
There are over 300 species of birds and 132 species of fish that call Sabine Wildlife Refuge home.
People who love to crab and fish feel right at home at the Sabine Refuge, and there are opportunities for both all year long.
Places like Northline, Hog Island Gully and West Cove recreation areas are all popular for both fishing and crabbing.

Sunsets here are truly breathtaking, and many people come back here again and again to witness them.
There are some areas in the refuge that allow you access to the coast, where you'll find some of the most beautiful beaches in Louisiana.
April may be the best time of year to pay this area a visit, as the peak songbird migration takes place here and the turtles come out to lay their eggs.
