If you’re looking to escape from your everyday life and slow things down a bit, then Longue Vue House & Gardens is just the ticket. Not only will you be surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscaped gardens in New Orleans, but you won’t have to drive very far at all to get there! In fact, you may be less than a mile or two away from this historic hidden gem right now. Let’s take a closer look.
Tucked away in the shadows of the New Orleans Country Club, Longue Vue House & Gardens is a historic house museum located in the Lakewood neighborhood of New Orleans.
The beautiful home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and in 2005, was declared a National Historic Landmark. You can take a tour of the home and learn all about the building and decorating process.
The only thing more impressive than the house is the gardens. And after your tour, you’ll want to check them out.
The gardens date back to 1935 and while they have changed over the years, they remain some of the most beautifully manicured landscaping in the city.
Depending on what time of year you visit, you’ll have the opportunity to see several different varieties of flowers in bloom.
The 8-acres of gardens boasts one of the largest collections of Louisiana irises in New Orleans.
It’s the perfect place to visit when you need to take a bread from the every day life and go for a reflective stroll.
Longue Vue is open seven days a week.
Monday - Saturday: 9:30 a.m. till 5p.m.
Sunday: 1 p.m. 4 p.m.
House and Garden tours are $18, but a self-guided garden tour is only $8.
