One of the most wonderful parts of the holiday season is getting your loved ones together to go check out the different Christmas lights in New Orleans. While there's certainly a special place in our hearts for time-honored traditions like Celebration in the Oaks or the Roosevelt Lobby displays, there's one park near New Orleans that transforms into a festive winter village with so many lights, you may need sunglasses.
Christmas in Lafreniere Park returns for its 35th year this holiday season, and it promises to be a display so whimsical, it would even make the Grinch smile.
Every evening at dusk, 10 million LED lights are flipped on, illuminating dozens of elaborate set pieces, decorations, and displays.
You’ll see themed displays from popular films like Star Wars, the Marvel gang, Disney princesses, and more as you walk through the park.
The entire family will love getting to see all these dazzling displays.
Land... water... the set pieces are everywhere you look!
Several benches and seating areas peppered throughout the park provide the perfect spot to park it and admire the view.
And snap some perfect photos to cherish.
You might even get caught in a "snow storm."
When Santa gets involved, anything is possible. Well, Santa and a snow machine.
The light displays come on every night at 5:30 p.m.
The event closes at 9 p.m. during the week and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
