The Alexander State Forest is 8,000 acres of beautiful bottomland hardwoods and various pine trees that’s an ideal destination for the outdoor explorer. And as an added bonus, it’s located in central Louisiana so it’s an easy road trip from any corner of the state. Tucked away within the forest is a massive 2,600-acre reservoir that’s the perfect spot for a day of fun in the sun.
The Indian Creek Reservoir is located in Rapides Parish, just outside Woodworth.
The lake was created in 1970 for both irrigation and recreation.
The Indian Creek Recreation Area is a great spot to park it for a few days to really explore the lake.
The recreation features over 300 acres plus the lake itself. You'll feel like you're a million miles away from everything.
There are multiple beaches to enjoy.
Sink your toes in the sand in between splashing around!
You can even rent a canoe or bring your own to explore the lake from a different perspective.
And there are multiple boat launches around the reservoir.
Boating is a popular pastime here, especially for water sports like tubing and waterskiing.
Looks like fun!
The reservoir is also a prime fishing spot.
Largemouth bass, black crappie, and striped bass are just a few of the potential catches of the day.
In between beach time and boat time, find some quiet time and sit for a spell on one of the benches to appreciate the view.
Go ahead and make a weekend out of it.
Looks like a pretty good view for a few days, right?
