Louisiana is just chock-full of natural scenery that's almost too beautiful to be real. While city life certainly has its perks, there's something special about driving out to a small town and checking out the sights. For nature lovers, there's no better town to explore than Homer, a sleepy little town in Northern Louisiana that's home to one of the most beautiful state parks in Louisiana. Let's check it out.
Gas up the car, pack some snacks, and get ready for a full day of adventure at Lake Claiborne State Park.
Located in Homer, this beautiful little state park features over 600 acres to explore, plus a 6,400-acre man-made lake.
Lake Claiborne is a popular spot during the warmer months, where you can sprawl out on the lovely little beach in between swimming around the lake.
Of course, fishermen will be on cloud nine with their rod and reel.
Take your boat out on the water or drop your line right from the dock. Largemouth bass, bluegill sunfish, and channel catfish are just a few of the fish you might catch.
In between gazing out at the water and reeling in your dinner, be sure to check out the nature trails, which will lead you on a scenic adventure through the rolling hills of the park.
With over 10 miles to explore, you could easily spend the entire day just checking out the trails!
There’s even a disc golf course the whole family can enjoy. Two of them, in fact!
You might end up loving it so much that you’d like to extend your stay.
While they do offer cabin rentals, there’s nothing like waking up to views like this right outside of your tent.
And don't forget about campfires! There’s plenty of places to cook up your catch of the day, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the great outdoors.
For more information, be sure to check out the park's website.
