It's that perfect time of year when being outdoors isn't a nightmare. The temperatures aren't sweltering hot, and the mosquitos aren't attacking at every moment, so now is your chance to get outside and do some exploring. This one short and sweet hike just outside of New Orleans is the perfect trail to explore in the fall, and it leads to some of the most beautiful scenery around. Let's check it out.
For an epic day of outdoor exploration, a visit to the Northlake Nature Center is in order.
Nestled along the beautiful Bayou Castine, this beautiful preserve was established in 1982 and consists of 52 acres of beautiful swamps and forests.
There are three trails at the Northlake Nature Center: Eagle Trail, South Loop, and North Loop. All of them are under two miles long and will take you on quite the scenic adventure.
Whether you’re looking for a peaceful spot to enjoy some of Louisiana’s finest landscape or a unique outing for your family, the trails at Northlake Nature Center accommodate everyone.
There's also a canoe launch, so you can explore the waterways from an entirely new perspective.
You’ll come across three different ecosystems at the center: a hardwood forest, a pine-hardwood forest, and a pond-swamp.
You’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from it all, but it’s only a 40 minute drive from the city.
The Northlake Nature Center is always throwing kid-friendly activities and specialty hikes where you'll learn all about the flora and fauna of the area. For more information, be sure to check out their website and give them a follow on Facebook.
