Sometimes, all you need is a change of scenery to gain a different perspective. Getting outside and spending time in a more natural setting is often easier said than done since we all lead such busy lives. But rarely do you come away from spending time in nature feeling worse, so why not give it a shot? Grab your sneakers and a bottle of water, because the trails at South Toledo Bend State Park in Louisiana are waiting for you.
Nothing will make you feel more at peace than a stroll through South Toledo Bend State Park.
Situated along several small bluffs nestled around the Toledo Bend Reservoir, this trail has a little bit of everything.
From forested sections where you can listen to the symphony of sounds from the songbirds above...
...to mesmerizing waterfront views where you can watch the sunlight bounce across the reservoir.
This area has a high population of bald eagles, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of one snatching a fish out of the water.
There are several areas for you to sit for a spell and admire the scenery.
There's even a little stretch of beach for you to pull up a spot on the sand and watch the sunset.
An inflatable flamingo isn't required, but it does add a nice touch. Stay quirky!
If you'd like to prolong your stay, there are plenty of options available.
Primitive campsites, RV slots, and cabins are all ways to stay as well as these hybrid glamping tents, pictured above.
Visit South Toledo Bend's website for more information, including rates and availability for camping and cabins. While you're in the area, you may want to check out this state park's little sister, North Toledo Bend State Park.
