There are a few things that are worth waking up early for. Sunrises, a good breakfast, and farmers markets are all worth sacrificing your Saturday morning. And when it comes to farmers markets, there's one in particular that you should check out, and that's the Crescent City Farmers Market in New Orleans. And the best part is that there are multiple markets around the city to choose from, so you're never too far away from some incredibly fresh produce from local farmers, and you don't even have to wake up early for most of them. Let's check it out.
Crescent City Farmers Market has been around since 1995.
What began as a producer-only farmers market with farmers, fisherman, bakers and general food makers from within 200 miles has grown into quite the operation.
Today, there are seven weekly markets in the New Orleans area, most of them operating year-round.
Here’s the schedule:
Tuesdays: Uptown at Uptown Square
Wednesdays: in the Bywater at the Rusty Rainbow Bridge and the Ochsner Rehab Center in Jefferson
Thursdays: Mid-City on Orleans Avenue at the American Can Company
Fridays: Bucktown at the Harbor
Saturdays: Downtown and Kenner’s Rivertown
No matter which farmers market you visit, you’re in for a treat.
Each one will have a plethora of fish fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers.
Stock up on locally grown produce, cut flowers, fresh dairy, and more.
You’ll even be able to grab some fresh cut flowers and Louisiana seafood.
And the bread, don’t forget about the bread.
Is there anything better than freshly baked bread? No. No there is not.
Vendors rotate weekly, so you’ll always be treated to something new.
Depending what’s in season, of course.
Check out their calendar to find out who the vendors are this week.
That way, you can plan accordingly and visit the market that’s got the goods you’re looking for!
And each market accepts multiple forms of payment.
While cash is preferred, credit and debit cards are also accepted, as well as Apple pay, personal checks, and food stamps.
For more information, be sure to check out their website and give them a follow on Facebook.
