It's no secret that Louisiana summers are hot. Brutally hot. Luckily, we have plenty of options when it comes to cooling off, and Lake Claiborne is one of them. This lovely little lake in northern Louisiana is just perfect for spending a summer day around the water with your loved ones. Let's check it out.
For nature lovers, there’s no better spot to spend a summer day than Lake Claiborne State Park.
The 643-acre park may not be the biggest state park in Louisiana, but don’t let it’s size fool you, there’s plenty to keep you entertained.
Not only does the park boast some of the most highly ranked disc golf courses in the state, but several stunning nature trails that will lead you on quite a scenic adventure through the trees.
Of course, the main attraction to the park is its namesake, Lake Claiborne.
The 6,400-acre man-made lake was formed by damming Bayou D’Arbonne, and is a popular spot for fishermen to their boat into the lake and spending a day on the open water.
No boat? No problem! The pier is a great spot to drop a line and see what you can reel in.
You can also rent a kayak and explore the lake at a calmer pace, which is a great activity the whole family can enjoy.
The beach is a great spot to spend a summer day with the family. Spend the afternoon building sandcastles and splashing away in the cool refreshing waters of the lake.
If you’d like to extend your stay, rent one of their beautiful cabins for a night or two.
These cabins have lovely views of the lake and can sleep up to eight people.
If you’d rather spend a night under the stars, primitive camping is also available so bring your tent and enjoy an evening outdoors!
When the views are this pretty, you may never want to leave.
