City Park in New Orleans has a ton of attractions, you could spend an entire day there and still not see everything the 1,300-acre park has to offer. You'll find the botanical gardens nestled in the middle of this enchanting park, which you should consider paying a visit. Let’s take a look at what makes these gardens so spectacular.
The New Orleans Botanical Garden originally opened as the City Park Rose Garden in 1936.
It was renamed the New Orleans Botanical Garden in the 1980s.
Located inside New Orleans City Park, these botanical gardens are a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours.
The gardens contain more than 2,000 varieties of plants from around the world.
Surrounded by the nation’s largest collection of mature live oak trees, you’ll instantly feel at peace as you stroll the beautiful grounds.
Depending on the time of year you visit, you can expect to see roses, aquatics, orchids, ornamental trees, perennials, and several other plants native to Louisiana. Angel’s Trumpets are in bloom in September, and you’ll see tons of butterflies in October.
Nature lovers of all ages will love wandering around the gardens.

The garden is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Keep in mind that the last entry is at 4:00 p.m.
Adults are $6, children 3-12 are $3, and children under 3 are free.
Louisiana residents receive free admission on Wednesdays, so bring your ID!
