There’s a lot to love about New Orleans’ City Park, that’s for sure. The 1,300-acre park is chock-full of incredible attractions that could take days to fully explore, and the botanical gardens should move to the top of your bucket list. Luckily, there’s always something blooming within these gardens, and now is the perfect time to set out on an adventure and check it out.
Sprawling over 10 acres, City Park’s Botanical Gardens are a picture-perfect way to spend the day.
Originally known as “The Rose Garden,” the gardens have been enchanting both locals and tourists since it opened in the 1930s.
As you stroll through the gardens, you’ll be met with marvelous, lush greenery just about everywhere you look. Be sure to bring your camera; you'll want to snap some photos, for sure!
The gardens contain more than 2,000 varieties of plants from all around the world.
No matter what time of year you visit, you’re bound to see something in bloom. And be sure to take note of all the stunning Art Deco sculptures that are peppered around the garden.
There are several lovely areas to sit for a spell and take in the beauty surrounding you. On a beautiful day, you could easily spend a couple of hours just taking in the views.
From cacti to crepe myrtles and everything in between, these botanical gardens are truly something special. You'll want to re-visit during different times of the year so you can see all of the different blooms.
Admission is $10 per person for adults and $5 for kids ages 3-12.
Hours of operation:
Wednesday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Thursday - Sunday: 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
The last entry is 30 minutes before close, but you’ll want to spend at least an hour here, so plan accordingly!
