The holiday season is quickly approaching, and we have the low down on all of the most enchanting attractions in the Bayou State, including this one. The whole family will enjoy a visit to the Baton Rouge Zoo this winter, where, after all of the animals go to sleep, the zoo is illuminated in a spectacular light show that will put even the Grinch in the holiday spirit.
The Baton Rouge Zoo has been a favorite attraction for animal lovers since it opened in 1970.
From the tiniest turtle to gorgeous giraffes, everyone always has a memorable afternoon when they visit this popular family-friendly attraction.
During the holiday season, the Baton Rouge Zoo hosts ZooLights, a magical event presented by Children’s Hospital New Orleans.
ZooLights is a mile-long trail through the zoo with all sorts of beautiful holiday displays.
There are more than 50 illuminated displays to enjoy.
From penguins to hummingbirds, you’ll get to see all of your favorite animals in a whole new light!
Some of these displays are up to 30 feet tall! Several are also animated, adding a whole new dimension to this whimsical event.
ZooLights begins the day after Thanksgiving and will run until December 30, 2020, so you’ve plenty of time to check it out.
Admission is from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the zoo grounds close at 9 p.m.
You’ll want to arrive after the sun sets so you can have the best views of these illuminated displays.
Admission Prices:
Adults: $5
Seniors: $4
Kids 2-12: $3
Friends of the Zoo Members: $3
For more information, be sure to check out the zoo's website and give them a follow on Facebook to stay up to date on future events.
