If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life for a bit, the Northlake Nature Center is just the ticket.
Located just a short drive across the causeway in Mandeville, the Northlake Nature Center was established in 1982 and features 400 acres of some of the most beautiful natural landscape Louisiana has to offer.
There are over 8 miles of boardwalk and gravel trails that will lead you through the center’s 400 acres.
You’ll have the opportunity to experience three different ecosystems during your exploration: a hardwood forest, a pine-hardwood forest, and a pond-swamp.
You’ll have some absolutely stunning views of the waterways including Bayou Castine.
As you stroll through the trails, you’ll encounter several interpretive signs and outdoor classrooms, making this a great activity for families with kids of all ages.
The Nature Center is home to countless wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled for sights of turtles, beavers, ducks, and songbirds, and more.
The Northlake Nature Center is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m.
