Are you on the hunt for a new trail to tackle? Consider the Northlake Nature Center in Louisiana for your next outdoor trip! This hidden gem in St. Tammany Parish offers visitors a chance to stroll through some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the Pelican State. This trail checks all of our favorite boxes: it's short, it's sweet, and it's scenic. Oh, and it's kid-friendly, too! What more could you ask for in hiking trails in Louisiana? We're willing to bet that the Northlake Nature Center will become one of your new favorite places to go when you're in the mood for an outdoor adventure.
There are actually a few different Louisiana hiking trails within the Northlake Nature Center.
The trails are open from dawn until dusk every day, and you can mix and match them to best fit your schedule.
We'll be focusing on the North Loop Trail today, which is the green trail in the image above.
It's just shy of two miles, but it really packs a visual punch in those two miles!
The boardwalk trails take you through canopies of longleaf pines and lush emerald greens every step of the way.
It's a great spot to do a little wildlife watching, so keep your eyes peeled!
During the warmer months, your usual swamp critters like alligators and turtles are often seen basking up along the banks.
Just remember, don't feed the wildlife when you're on a waterfront hike in Louisiana!
If you're a birdwatcher, then you'll be on cloud nine! The Nature Center hosts a birdwatching event called BirdFest every spring where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of all the migratory birds that make their way here for summer.
Don't worry, there are plenty of year-round birds that call the nature center home, and sightings of herons and egrets are pretty common in these parts.
