Whether your sense of adventure involves trying a new restaurant or skydiving from an airplane, this unique Kentucky experience should be at the top of your summer bucket list. SUP Kentucky kayaking, which stands for "Stand Up Paddle Boarding," has burst onto the adventure scene and is showing Kentuckians the hidden beauty of the Bluegrass State. They offer a variety of excursions, so even if you have no experience on the water, there's an adventure for you.
SUP Kentucky began in 2016 with the goal of introducing people to the fast-growing sport of stand-up paddle boarding. If you've been near any body of water recently, then you've probably seen people giving it a try.
If you've ever been interested in trying it yourself, then you don't even need to leave the state, because SUP Kentucky has you covered with a variety of excursions and even lessons.
SUP Kentucky spends a lot of time at picturesque Grayson Lake. This Kentucky gem is perfect for paddle boarding, with its sandstone cliffs and serene waters.
When you explore Grayson Lake with SUP Kentucky, you'll enjoy a quiet paddle around the lake while discovering hidden waterfalls and even a magical grotto falls, only visible from the water.
SUP Kentucky gives you the opportunity to get up close to one of the state's most recognized natural wonders - Cumberland Falls.
Your tour will take you to the pool at the bottom of the falls for a once-in-a-lifetime view of the Niagara of the South.
SUP Kentucky's most unique tour is the Underground Cavern Glow.
This 1.5-mile trip will take you into spacious caverns that, without your headlamp and lights on your board, are pitch black. You'll be amazed at the history you'll witness and the mystery of these underground waterways.
If you're looking for a more intense adventure, join SUP Kentucky for a whitewater ride on Elkhorn Creek.
Rapids at Elkhorn Creek range from class 1 to 3 and the creek provides a great location to test your skills on your paddle board.
If low-key adventure is more your style, see how you do with "Paddle Pose" - or yoga on your board.
SUP Kentucky is giving us the opportunity to see our state like never before.
If you just want to "get your toes wet" with the sport, they do offer an Intro to SUP course to help you gain confidence. They are confident that you will fall in love with stand-up paddle boarding, especially when explored in the beauty of Kentucky.
