Places like New England get a lot of attention this time of year for gorgeous fall colors, but did you know we have our own mountain getaway in Kentucky?
The drive to Pine Mountain in Kentucky is just the beginning of a magical destination that you can visit right here in the Bluegrass State.
Overlooking the town of Pineville, these mountains are downright spectacular in the fall.
As this area of Kentucky approaches peak fall foliage, now is a great time to plan a little getaway. And if you don't have time this year, definitely keep it on a bucket list for the future.
And when you're ready to visit, book a room at the Pine Mountain State Resort Park.
As Kentucky's first state park, it is just as beautiful as it was when it opened in 1924. And especially when surrounded by fall color, this is a great place to call home base when spending time on the mountain.
Each of the 30 rooms at the Herndon J. Evans Lodge has its own balcony or patio that offers stunning mountain views.
And the entire resort is filled with places to relax and take it all in. They also offer a restaurant that's open seven days a week this time of year.
As nice as the lodge is, be sure to get out and explore the miles of hiking trails within the park.
In the peak of fall, the trails throughout Pine Mountain in Kentucky will be filled with vibrant colors. Hike along these historic trails and experience a diverse sampling of landscape and views.
While taking on these trails, you can witness unique rock formations, waterfalls, creeks, and the famous Chain Rock.
The view from Chain Rock is a must and will show you an incredible perspective of Pineville. The trails range from easy to strenuous, but keep in mind there are challenging elevation changes given you are on a mountain. View all of the trails within the park here.
When your legs are tired, hop in the car and take in the views from the road.
There is no shortage of natural beauty and fall color on Pine Mountain in Kentucky.
And if a trip this fall just isn't going to happen, don't discount a visit in the winter!
