Kentucky is an agricultural state, so we all know that we have an abundance of beautiful farms throughout the Bluegrass State. However, did you know that there's a gorgeous lavender farm in Kentucky hiding in Bracken County? With the weather starting to warm up, it's the perfect time to start thinking about fun and unique day trips to take this spring and summer. You should definitely consider a visit to Lavender Hills of Kentucky in Brooksville. Let's take a closer look.
Lavender Hills of Kentucky is located at 229 Conrad Ridge Road in Brooksville. Their season is from June until October, and people are welcome to visit during that time.
It is the first commercial lavender farm in the state, and has been open since 2006.
Tours and workshops on the farm are available by appointment in June and July when the lavender is in season. Learn how to bake with this delightful flower, or learn to make a sachet that you can place around your home so that the pleasant aroma of the lavender lingers in the air.
The farm has over 600 lavender plants and 22 different varieties that range in color from purple, blue, pink, yellow, and white.
Lavender is proven to have many health benefits as well. It can aid in inducing sleep, easing anxiety, reducing high blood pressure, and relieving common ailments such as an upset stomach, headache, or congestion.
The farm also has a gift shop that sells fresh lavender in June and July, but dried bundles and various other products are sold year round. You can purchase these bundles as well as a wide variety of lavender products during the off season online via their website.
Besides being able to purchase bundles of this beautiful flower, their gift shop carries many different kinds of products made with lavender since it is so versatile. They have beauty products such as lip balm, bath salts, scrubs, and lotions. You can also use lavender in a pleasant-smelling cleaning product.
