If you've been looking for less crowded or otherwise underrated summer destinations in Kansas, then Pomona State Park is just for you. Whether you're into fishing or hiking or even just enjoying the outdoors in one spot, we think this is a great park for you.
Welcome to Pomona State Park, a lakeside spot perfect for all things outdoor fun.
Pomona State Park, previously named Vassar, has had state park status since 1963 and currently offers camping, hiking, fishing, and water activities.
490 acres of park and 4,000 acres of lake mean that this area has plenty of wildlife to surround yourself with.
Water skiing, fishing catfish or bass, and canoeing are great ways to really enjoy the water. Other than good ol' swimming, I mean. There's definitely plenty of hours to spend here on the water.
There are a few shorter trails to enjoy here, which are suited for both walking and mountain biking. You can camp near the trail, and one of them is also ADA accessible.
If camping is tough on your bones like it is mine, or if you just prefer a sleeping spot that doesn't blow away, they have cabins available to rent out for your visit here.
Whether you're here for an afternoon or a week long stay, we think you'll love it here.
For updates on the park and lake, check out the Pomona State Park KWPT website.
