It's hard to get bored with the many restaurants Kansas has to offer, but you can definitely find yourself in a rut from time to time. It's easy to just choose spots near home, but you're missing out if you don't widen your scope a bit and patronize places you've overlooked in the past. Here are 10 such restaurants. Give them a chance! You'll be glad you did.
1. Children's Mercy Park, Kansas City, KS
The next time you're at this stadium for a soccer game, you should definitely plan on eating here. It might seem weird to recommend a sports venue in an article about restaurants, but we figure that any venue with an executive chef deserves consideration. Check out these delicious tacos. (1 Sporting Way, Kansas City)
2. The Cozy Inn, Salina
The Cozy Inn is soooo cozy. It literally has six bar stools. Order your burgers by the bag. This restaurant offers basic burgers, bags of chips and canned sodas. Sometimes simple is exactly what you're looking for. (108 7th Street, Salina)
3. Flying Stove, Wichita
It's worth the trouble to find out where this food truck is parked; scour all of Wichita if you must! This is the BLT-E...and it really is as good as it looks. You'll find Flying Stove somewhere in Wichita.
4. Gella's Diner & Lb Brewing Co., Hays
Unless you live nearby, Hays is probably not close to your house, but the next time you find yourself out on I-70 passing through the middle of the state, you definitely want to make a point to stop at Gella's. We just can't even begin to explain how good the chicken fried steak is! (117 E. 11th Street, Hays)
5. Indios Carbonsitos Mexiq Food Truck, Kansas City, KS
The carnitas tacos at this little food truck will change your life. Sure, you could find a sit-down Mexican restaurant, but why not be a little more adventurous? You won't regret it! Find this truck somewhere in Kansas City.
6. Josie's Ristorante, Scammon
If you didn't know that this cozy Italian spot was here, you'd pass it right by...but that would be a huge mistake! It's waaay down in the corner of the state, but well worth the drive. You get big, big portions of pasta made from Grandma's Old World recipes. (400 N. Main Street, Scammon)
7. Legends Pub & Grille, Pratt
The outside of this place could easily be mistaken for an office building, but don't judge it too harshly by its exterior. This pub and grille in Pratt offers up some crazy good sandwiches, burgers, appetizers and onion rings. (109 S. Parke Street, Pratt)
8. Nu Grill, Fort Scott
The next time you find yourself on U.S. Route 69, you should definitely visit Nu Grill in Fort Scott. The onion rings are a favorite here. (24 N. National Avenue, Fort Scot)

10. Stearman Field Bar & Grill, Benton
This little restaurant is literally in the middle of the airport―right next to the runway. It's an odd spot for a restaurant, but well worth the trip out here. The burgers are delicious! (14789 SW 30th Street, Benton)
