When the weather is perfect in Kansas, we all think about what do spend the day doing. Why not try a hike? The way up here is worth the view you're rewarded with. This overlook in Kansas is breathtaking, and truly worth every step to get here. Have you hiked this beautiful trail in Kansas before?
Welcome to the beautiful and lush Elk River Hiking Trail in Elk City. Grab your walking stick and let's get hiking!
Measuring 14.1 miles in total, it features a beautiful lake and plenty of rocks both around you and under your feet. The terrain is a little rugged, but not too much that the average person would have issue hiking here.
There are two main trailheads that make things easy to navigate from, but we recommend starting from the Elk City Fishing and Wildlife Office, which is closer to this beautiful overlook. Unless you've got the stamina and time to do the whole thing, that is.
Arguably the best part of the trail is the moment you reach that section where the trees open up and you start to see a hint of what lies beyond.
This overlook is stunning in any light, but especially so during sunrise and sunset colors. The water reflects the colors of the sky, and the view surrounded by trees is picture perfect. It truly is worth every step.
If you've got the time and the stamina, consider exploring the rest of the trail for tall rock walls, mini waterfalls, and plenty of life surrounding you.
Next time you're considering a beautiful day out in nature, consider this amazing overlook in Kansas along the Elk River trail.
