We can't imagine a holiday season without visiting our favorite Christmas light displays. After all, it's part of the spirit of the season to go around and spread cheer! If you've never been to Overland Park Arboretum's Luminary Walk before, it's one Christmas tradition you'll want to do every year from here on out. The more Christmas traditions in Kansas you collect, the merrier. At least, we think so!
Around the holidays, Overland Park Arboretum gets a little more festive than usual, stringing up thousands of lights.
If you've never had the pleasure to walk through a park strung with holiday lights, you shouldn't miss out on this one either. Each overhang, tree, and bush with lights is work done by volunteers at this gorgeous park.
Along the way, there's plenty of great spots for holiday photos, which make great Christmas cards, if we're honest.
One of our favorite spots is the candlelit waterfall, a perfect scene that we could watch for hours if it weren't so cold.
They recommend you purchase tickets in advance for your night, so you are sure to get in before they're full. They only have so much space to give! Tickets are $12 per person, but free for age 5 and under. There's also a discount for members of the Friends of the Arboretum and First National Bank customers, when you buy online with their promo code.
In 2019, the Luminary Walk is open from 5 to 9 p.m. every night, though they don't let anyone else in after 8 p.m. to keep things running smoothly. Make sure you have your parking pass and ticket ready to go on your mobile device or a printed page.
2019's dates are November 29 and 30th, December 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th.
For more information about this beautiful walk through the park and to buy tickets, check out the Overland Park Aboretum's Luminary Walk website.
If you live closer to Wichita or haven't seen the Botanica Gardens, you'll want to check out this Kansas spot to see over 2 million Christmas lights.
