If you're not a fan of ice and snow, and you don't like it when the cold winds blow, then you'll be pleased to hear about this upcoming winter. This year's upcoming winter has a couple surprises in store, according to the Farmer's Almanac. Are you ready to hear the good news?
We've found that this year will be warmer and milder than the average of years past.
Using data gathered from the 2019 Farmer's Almanac for the Heartland and High Plains regions, (east and west Kansas, respectively).
On the eastern side of things, it's going to be wetter, but not colder. That brings an awkward mix of ice and slush, which is a lot less pretty than snow, but at least temperatures will be warmer!
The slush is pretty ugly, but at least it isn't a foot of snow on the roads.
It does warn that there will be an above-normal level of precipitation, so watch out for slippery roads. We'll still be getting snow, but it won't stick well.
Warmer temperatures sometimes means that we get more ice. It's a push-and-pull between wanting less cold and wanting less ice.
On the western side of things, it's going to be both warmer and dryer than the average, which means that (hopefully) the roads will stay safe and clear this year.
We can only hope.

Even though you'll miss out on all the snow, it's still beautiful out there.
Stunning winter skies and brown grasses sound boring to some, but to a Kansan, they're just what we love.
Overall, you're going to see a lot less of those fields of white, and a lot more fields of brown.
Then again, maybe we'll get those frozen waterfalls we've always wanted?
Whatever happens this winter, it will be absolutely stunning as always.
However, it's impossible to guarantee these predictions as truth. Ultimately, this is just a rough estimate of what we're expecting. Kansas' crazy weather will still surprise us, I bet!
Plus, if it does end up freezing over a few times, you'll find that it's the perfect time to go through this list of frozen waterfalls in Kansas.
