Are you a fan of birds or rare Kansas sightings? Well, these birds are only here for a short while, so pack up your camera and let's head to the wetlands! This one park in Kansas is the only place they're headed, and they won't be here forever. Pelicans and other shorebirds fly across the U.S. every year, but they always stop somewhere special. That special place is Cheyenne Bottoms.
At Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area, there are thousands of pelicans and other birds from the seaside just waiting to be photographed on their routine stop.
They refuel and hang out for a while before heading farther on their journey. They are moving from North to South every year, and Cheyenne Bottoms plays a very important role in their travels.
They are a passing beauty in our state, so you should definitely go out to see them before they're gone for the winter! However, make sure you don't leave anything behind, and keep the area clean. It's important to preserve our local ecosystems!
Make sure you've got a day trip in mind for this gorgeous opportunity! Cheyenne Bottoms is Northeast of Great Bend, and almost straight South of Russell.
