Plenty of Kansans get excited about hiking a new trail or exploring a new park. However, not all of us can get out there and trek through miles of paths on a whim (me included.) So, with that in mind, we found the perfect little trail that's short and sweet, with a great view of one of our natural Kansas features.
Today's trail takes us through a part of Mushroom Rock State Park in Brookville, Kansas. It's a small area of central Kansas between Ellsworth and Salina.
The park itself is a wonder to explore in any season, no matter the temperature. After all, who wouldn't want to take a short walk through nature and check out some amazing rocks.
Most people use the trail for short hikes, bird watching, wildflowers, and walks with their dogs. Of course, make sure your canine friends are on a leash while you're here.
The loop that makes up the entirety of the trail is 0.2 miles, and is well beat into the ground for easy access.
Everyone's favorite features on this trail are the mushrooms. I mean, how could you visit without going to see these? They're massive!
The "stem" of each rock formation is carved with all sorts of words, initials, and symbols. It really makes you wonder how old some of the carvings are beneath the newer ones.
As always, we recommend sticking around for one of our amazing Kansas sunsets. There's nothing sweeter or more beautiful!
