Whether you want it or not, fall is headed our way! Even as you lose your warm days full of sunshine, there are plenty of gorgeous colors to look forward to in the next couple of months. The Sunflower State will soon turn into a sea of red, orange, and yellow leaves that bring us into a beautiful fall season. This map published annually by Smoky Mountains shows us just about what time is the best to view fall foliage in Kansas. Wondering when leaves change in Kansas? Let's take a look!
It can take only days for a tree to turn from green to orange, so it's important to find when you'll see the most color at once.
Though the dates may end up varying a little, it's still a great guide to when you should take your day trips to see the leaves in all their glory.
Near October 17th, they're expecting the Sunflower State to be in minimal to patchy color.
Here you'll see that Central Kansas all the way to the Colorado border is supposed to be on its way to prime in mid-October.
By November 7th, the whole state is at - or just past - its prime.
So, make sure you're not falling in the brown area when you're trying to snap those gorgeous fall photos. Only the best will do! Looks like this year, your best bet is to head out between mid-October and early November.
Some trees will always be green, however. So your best bet is to look for trees such as Birch, Elm, Maple, and Oak when you go hunting.
As always, enjoy the weather!
Warm apple cider or hot chocolate will make this an adventure for more than one of your senses. If you're going to plan a trip to see the leaves, now's the time to start!
In addition to these maps of when you'll find the brightest leaves, why not plan for this scenic Kansas road trip to view fall foliage with those dates in mind? After all, what better time for an adventure than now?
