Our beautiful state, full of spacious skies and farmland, with the occasional herd of cattle roaming the grass. What do you think of when you're looking for true Kansas beauty? You should be looking at what we Kansans do best: take care of our farm country. These gorgeous photos are sure to change what you find most beautiful about our Sunflower State.
This is Kansas, a place full of beautiful scenery that isn't appreciated by the city as it is by our dedicated farmers.
The sunrises you'll see every morning while during harvest season...
...and the sunsets.
Farm animals are also an important part of Kansas agriculture. We don't see horses as often as, per say...
... cows. They're everywhere, but occasionally a beautiful snapshot can be captured of their quiet nature.
Kansas everyday is filled with beautiful expanses of sky, that might be full of clouds...
...or completely clear...
...or littered with stars and the occasional faraway planet. (The bright one to the right of the dome is Saturn.)
Freshly rolled hay sits like giant marshmallows as far as you can see. (They look even more like marshmallows when they're wrapped!)
And sometimes they're arranged in neat rows before finding homes elsewhere.
This gorgeous shot of one of our wind farms, this one's near Hays.
Abandoned farmhouses and schools in the Flint Hills remind us of a simpler time long ago...
...like this gorgeous shot of a water pump circa 1915. Kansas has been working hard since the beginning!
Wheat fields make for a pretty replacement for the oceans we don't have.
"Amber waves of grain" is a good trade off for tides and tropical storms, don't you think?
This combine has been working for years, like it's driver. It will be working for years to come, as well.
Burn seasons from afar are a great reminder of those who work daily for our food and well-being.
If you're lucky, you'll get to witness the burning up close.
The Flint Hills is a great place to do that, by the way!
All of that fiery beauty once looked as rich in color as this field does.
True beauty doesn't always have to be waterfalls, mountains, or sand dunes. Sometimes, it's as simple as endless farmland and a sunset.
