Gage Park is considered one of the best attractions in Topeka, KS. This sprawling park is quite historic and is home to the Topeka Zoo, a war memorial, a 15-gauge miniature railroad, and the beautiful Reinisch Garden. The loop trail that meanders through the landscape will take you right through the rose garden, which has nearly 200 varieties of over 4,500 roses. This is one of the most stunning gardens in Kansas and the easy Topeka Zoo and Reinisch Rose Garden Loop will take you through some of the park's most gorgeous sights. Check it out:
The Reinisch Rose Garden first opened to the public in the summer of 1930. It's one of just 23 test gardens in the country for hybrizers, so you can find unique flowers here.
The roses are typically at peak bloom in late May and early June, with some species blooming in September, but even if you visit when they're not at their most beautiful, this is still a stunning area.
The trail that loops around Gage Park is only about 1.3 miles in length. It's paved, making it suitable for both wheelchairs and strollers, and encircles quite a few of the park's main attractions.
Because the surface is relatively flat and even, this is a great trail for even the youngest and most inexperienced of hikers to enjoy.
Many visitors to Gage Park simply stop in to enjoy the zoo, but I highly recommend walking along this trail, since it's a great option for seeing the park in its entirety.
Seeing all the colorful flowers is certainly a nice bonus, too!
