Who doesn't love an adventure out in our natural landscapes? The only thing better than a beautiful trail in Kansas is adding to that beauty with a waterfall ready to be explored. Come see for yourself what has been flowing out in small town Kansas since before most of us even moved in.
Welcome to the beautiful and tranquil Alcove Springs Trail out in Alcove Spring, Kansas.
It's a beautiful half-mile trail based around a historic site going back hundreds of years, travelers of all kinds used this spring as a source of fresh water.
Travelers on the Oregon trail carved the name into the surrounding rocks and trees, making it known as Alcove Springs forevermore.
The waterfall has varied levels of activity, depending on whether there has been any recent snow or rain, but is active off and on throughout the year. Sometimes that means a trickle, sometimes a little more.
Around the area there are also carvings, so watch out for something unique during your hike.
The trail is open from sunup to sundown, and is good for many skill levels. You can even bring your four legged friends, as long as you keep them on a leash.
