Wichita's Botanica gardens is often a beautiful place, but during the holiday season, they put up over 2 million lights that would easily warm even the Grinch's heart. Adventuring through this beautiful lighted landscape is a Christmas event you won't want to miss out on. Make sure to get your tickets for this beautiful holiday show!
Welcome to the ever-beautiful Botanica Gardens in Wichita, where every holiday season, they light up like nothing else you've seen.
Officially, there are over 2 million lights strung up and sponsored by volunteers and staff, which makes this one of the largest displays in Kansas. New in 2019 is the beautiful and restored Joyland carousel, available to ride during your visit.
Many of the gardens' areas are themed, like this underwater dream made by hand from Christmas lights.
Live music, caroling, hot coco, s'mores, and more are available for you here at Botanica, including a cash-only bar on the weekends that sells hot toddies and daily visits from Santa himself.
Illuminations runs daily from November 29, 2019 to January 4, 2020, though they are closed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Since customer parking is highly limited, additional parking and free shuttle bus service will be available for the event. Shuttles start at 5:30 p.m. and run until 9:15 p.m. from Botanica to the south parking lot across from the Wichita Art Museum.
Wichita's Botanica Gardens is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. normally, and Illuminations runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
For more information about the Illuminations event and the gardens themselves, check out the Wichita Botanica Gardens website.
During the winter, if you're visiting Kansas and don't know quite what to expect, you'll probably see quite a few things on this list.
