If you love to play in the water, this hike belongs on your list.
Many people visit Iowa's Pikes Peak State Park for the expansive views of the Mississippi River.
The well-cared-for park is definitely one of Iowa's most beautiful and most popular. It's the area's tallest bluff over the river, and it's worth seeing in every one of Iowa's amazing seasons. If you are feeling like an easy hike, you can experience another of Iowa's outdoor attractions.
The trails are clear, easy to follow, and wide. Many people bring their children to hike the area.
Some areas are even paved, so you can focus on the scenery. On weekends when the leaves are at peak color in the fall, this park gets pretty busy. It has some of the most amazing foliage in the area.
To get the the trail head, just take the sidewalk to the massive overlook. To the left, a sidewalk exits toward the trail head.
You'll take a massive wooden staircase down to Bridal Veil Falls.
This area is beautiful any time of the year. Feel free to explore the area.
Walk behind the waterfall, sit and contemplate nature, or stick your head in the water (if that makes you happy).
If you don't get around to visiting until winter, don't fret.
Frozen, hot, or blazing with fall color, this waterfall is simply gorgeous no matter what mother nature is throwing at us.
If you feel like hiking the entire trail, be aware that you are in it for nearly seven miles.
The falls are just a short hike in, though. You'll get there a little past the half-mile mark. There's even a water fountain on the way.
Have you walked behind the cascading water at Pikes Peak State Park's Bridal Veil Falls?
