While some view the end of the warmer season as a sad day, I view it as the beginning of a new adventure - fall, filled with wonderful flourishes like apple cider, pumpkin patches, and of course, beautiful sunflower fields. There are many amazing places to go sunflower picking in Iowa, but one that might not get as much attention as the other farms is Scarecrow Farm in Lawton. This quirky fall-focused farm is best known as a pumpkin patch, but starting on September 9th in 2023, it's playing host to the spectacular Sunflower Days festival. Besides sunflower picking, you can expect to find great food, family-friendly activities, and a welcoming atmosphere that will make fall's arrival feel like an old friend coming home.
Scarecrow Farm is a huge pumpkin patch and family attraction, and it's getting ready to open for the fall season.
This quirky farm is known for its unique decorations and active festivals, but coming up, its dedicating itself to one humble flower.
That's right, it's the beautiful sunflower, as this massive bloom is about to kick off its fall season on September 9th.
Part of the fun of Sunflower Days is getting to pick your own sunflowers and create the perfect arrangement.
You just pick the blooms you want, and soon you'll have a bouquet perfect for that special someone.
But keep an eye on the fields - they may reveal Scarecrow Farm's unique sense of humor.
While you're at the fair, make sure to check out the fresh food and drink, as well as fun activities like obstacle courses and slides.
And when Sunflower Days ends, the fun is just beginning - because Oktoberfest is right around the corner!
