There's nothing like a waterpark in the summer - and as August continues on, everyone in the Hawkeye State seems to agree. Many of Iowa's top waterparks are located at amusement parks and resorts, which means they can fill up very quickly on hot days. That's why we were so excited to discover there's a natural waterpark in Iowa, located on the shores of one of the state's most peaceful lakes. The beautiful Lake Delhi is located in an area of northeastern Iowa not far from Manchester and Dyersville, and that's where you'll find Bailey's Ford Park. This laid-back county park is home to a beautiful lake access point that not only is a great launching point for tubing and fishing, but has some surprising features - including a cliff to jump from and a rope swing for the bold! It might just be the perfect Iowa summer adventure on the water.
Bailey's Ford Park is one of those hidden county parks that feels like a refuge during the summer months.
It's on the shore of Lake Delhi, one of the best-hidden lakes in Iowa. This lake on the Maquoketa River is a very popular spot for fishing and water recreation.
There are tubing rentals along the lake, or you can bring your own. The river isn't wild, but it's certainly swift enough for some thrills!
For the truly daring, there are some tall cliffs along the shore that make for great jumping spots. Be sure to research water conditions and obey all safety signs!
There's even a rope swing on one spot on the lake, which may provide the most epic entry splash in all of Iowa!
Camping is allowed at Bailey's Ford Park, so it's a great place for a day of wet-and-wild fun, followed by a cookout and a good night's sleep.
Wondering where we got these great photos of the action on the shores of Lake Delhi? Iowa-based nature blogger Nick Staudt took them a few years back in this video.

While you're in the area, it's a great opportunity to explore Manchester - which is home to The Bread Basket, one of our favorite Iowa bakeries. And if you're looking for a place to stay in the area, the Cobblestone Inn & Suites Manchester gets amazing reviews and offers a comfortable room for a surprisingly low price.
