Iowa's got quite a few gorgeous trails, and we have one with beautiful views that you should definitely check out! Palisades-Kepler State Park is a lovely 840-acre park located along the Cedar River in Linn County. It's loved by fishermen, campers, wildlife photographers, and birdwatchers - if you adore the outdoors, this is the place for you! As you might expect, the park is home to several trails. One that we're particularly fond of is the Cedar Cliff Trail, an easy 2.1-mile trek that gives you excellent views of the river.
The out and back trail follows right along the banks of the river, so you'll have amazing riverfront views almost the entire time you are hiking!
There are quite a few rock cliffs to explore. The trail is shaded by the towering hardwood trees located throughout the park, so it's not miserable even on the hottest of days.
Many areas along the riverbank are just begging for you to sit and read a book or have a picnic!
It doesn't get much more peaceful than this! There's nothing like an idyllic walk through nature to free your mind from the stresses of everyday life.
The trail has several small bridges that make for great lookout points. You'll see all kinds of wildlife on the trail.
Some parts of the trail can get a little muddy, so always check recent weather conditions before heading out.
There are a few rockier side trails that branch off of the Cedar Cliff Trail, so the less adventurous should make sure to stick to the posted route.
