January is one of the toughest months to get through for those who don't fare well during the dark and cold season. But staying indoors isn't going to kick those winter blues. Get excited about the upcoming winter events at Indiana's premier arboretum that will make this month better and brighter. Check them out:
Hayes Arboretum in west-central Indiana is hosting a bunch of wonderful winter events this January that you won't want to miss. Each activity is free to the public.
Events are for all ages. Kids especially will love the crafts. Learn how to make a recycled bird feeder January 4-5, 2019. Then, January 11-12, 2019, guests can make unique snowflakes. The following weekend is all about crafting recycled snowmen, and snowflake fairies are the focus on January 26, 2019.
Also on January 26, 2019, Hayes Hikes will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Explore the beauty of this arboretum at wintertime before heading back to the nature center to warm up.
All events taking place on January 26, 2019 come with free hot chocolate. Warm up with a nice cup of sweetness that will make your winter day memorable.
Hayes Arboretum covers 466 acres and is full of amazing history. Guests will find unique collections of rocks, fossils, and plants as well as an old growth forest and a 1833 dairy barn. In addition to meadows, ponds, fields, and wetlands, you'll even find a museum on the grounds.
The arboretum is always free to enter. The main entrance is open Tuesday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., while the east side trails are open daily from dusk until dawn.
