Are you the kind of person who looks forward to spring flowers in Indiana? If so, you're in luck! There are lots of places you can go to enjoy it, but one of our favorite spots is probably Wellfield Botanic Gardens, a literal "living museum" that you can roam around and really appreciate the beauty of spring blooms.
Wellfield Botanic Gardens is a large, non-profit garden that ebbs and flows throughout the year.
However, the real crown jewel is the beautiful annual garden, which is at its peak beauty during spring. Usually, it's at its best in April and May, though new life springing into the world during March is plenty satisfying, too.
The grounds of Wellfield Botanic Garden are absolutely stunning all-around, though, so you'll want to explore all of it during your visit.
Wander through beautiful, seemingly endless fields of tulips, dahlia, salvia, snapdragons, daisies, geraniums, and so much more. It's easy to get lost in the sea of floral amazingness that is Wellfield.
It's a perfect place to find respite right in the middle of civilization - a way to get away from it all without getting away at all.
You don't need to hike any remote trails or keep track of winding forest roads. Wellfield Botanic Garden is smack-dab in the middle of the town of Elkhart, Indiana, so there's no need to travel terribly far (unless, of course, you live in a town far away and want to come visit)!
You'll be astounded at the incredible color all over the place as tulips burst from their bulbs and into life.
The tulips aren't the only living things that are blooming during the spring, of course. Life in general returns to the garden at this time of year (although one could argue that it never left), and you'll have ample opportunity to do some bird-watching while you're here. This is, however, definitely one of the best places for spring flowers in Indiana.
Wellfield Botanic Garden prides itself in providing education and events for folks from children to the elderly all year round.
If you find this place to be as special a paradise as we do, you might want to have your wedding or other special event here - and you can! Weddings here are nothing short of magical, as the garden staff goes above and beyond to make your memories the best.
Also peppering the grounds of Wellfield Botanic Garden are several ponds and creeks, all stocked with fish that you could spend an entire afternoon watching.
Some species of underwater friends you can observe here include the beautiful koi fish, carp, sunfish, crappie, bass, and many, many more! Don't forget to look up, too - as we previously mentioned, there's great birdwatching to be done here.
After your first visit, we strongly suspect that you'll want to come back again and again.
And, you know, that's fine - you can become a member of the garden and come back anytime. If that's not quite your bag, the garden will definitely be around for a long time to be loved by generations to come, so make sure to come back often!
For hours, current programs, more pictures, and so much more, make sure to visit the official Wellfield Botanic Gardens website.
