When it comes to exploring caves in Indiana, everyone knows where some of the best spots are. From the gorgeous walking tours to discover the mysteries of Marengo Cave to the watery adventure through Indiana Caverns, there's no shortage of cave explorations waiting to happen in the Hoosier State. But, if you're looking for a less crowded cave in a more remote setting, try checking out this little known cave in the middle of an Indiana state park.
McCormick's Creek State Park is a popular attraction in Owen County, Indiana. This stunning park was Indiana's first official state park and its filled with history and natural splendor.
This state park is best known for its incredible limestone canyon and picturesque waterfalls...but there's more beauty to be found deep within the park.
That's because McCormick's Creek State Park is home to an often-overlooked cave: Wolf Cave.
Wolf Cave offers an incredible walk (or crawl) through carved passageways formed thousands of years ago. This cave gets its name from the former inhabitants of this dwelling, native Indiana wolves.
Park visitors will find this cave along Trail 5 and can enjoy walking through the unique limestone passageway. Be warned - it's a tight squeeze, but well worth the effort.
During your walk through the cave, you'll even be able to see hints of the underground stream that formed these passageways. The other side of the cave is also remarkable.
Skip the crowded cave tours and get hands on experience with cave exploring at Wolf Cave in McCormick's Creek State Park.
