Indiana has a plethora of gorgeous state parks worth exploring over a variety of terrains from sandy dunes and wetlands to sandstone bluffs and gorges. Turkey Run State Park is easily one of the most famous parks in Indiana with family friendly hikes and some of the most stunning scenery in the state. Best of all, you can view it all from one incredible suspended bridge that runs over Sugar Creek.
Located in Marshall, Indiana, Turkey Run State Park offers an incredible way to enter the park's most incredible natural sights - an amazing 200-foot long suspension bridge that appears to transport you to another world.
This wooden suspension bridge was constructed in 1918, making it now 100 years old. It connects the north and south parts of the park, linking them across Sugar Creek.
Crossing over this bridge leads you to some of the park's most popular hiking trails, sandstone ravines, and gorgeous canyons and hollows. You'll find a total of 11 hikes to complete at Turkey Run State Park.
The suspension bridge also offers an incredible look at the park's overall beauty and can be trekked merely for the scenic opportunities.
Below the bridge, visitors can swim, canoe, and enjoy a variety of fun activities during spring and summer in Sugar Creek.
Since the bridge is suspended, it does rock slightly and appears to bounce under each step. It's also not particularly high up and shouldn't startle those with a fear of heights.
From exploring one of Indiana's rarest scenic views to unlocking a world of primitive beauty and adventure, the suspension bridge at Turkey Run State Park is one of Indiana's most spectacular foot bridges.
You can find this incredible bridge and the rest of this wondrous park at 8121 Park Rd, Marshall, IN 47859.
