If you're a lover of both fall color and easy hikes, have we got a trail for you! Brown County is without a doubt the most beautiful county in all of Indiana. You'll find it listed as #1 in many an article about scenic Indiana, and for good reason; it's astonishingly beautiful. It doesn't matter when you visit; Brown County is sure to amaze every time. During fall, however, Brown County - and its parks - take on a special kind of breathtaking magic. There are few better trails to fully illustrate this than Ogle Lake Trail 7 within Brown County State Park. This fall foliage hike in Indiana around Ogle Lake explodes into brilliant hues of reds and golds each and every year, and you're not going to want to miss it.
Ogle Lake trail 7 is one of many trails throughout Brown County State Park.
The entire park is absolutely splendid in terms of its natural beauty, and Trail 7 is really just more of that, but with a lake, too.
The entire 1.5-mile trail snakes around Ogle Lake, which is a crystal-clear and beautiful body of water year-round.
The surface seems to reflect the blue skies like a mirror, although when fall foliage is in full swing, the surface of the lake reflects plenty of that color as well.
The hike is quite easy and appropriate for most folks regardless of age or skill level.
It's heavily shaded by the dense foliage during summer and fall, but during fall, the incredible beauty of the fiery woods surrounding the tranquil trail is almost too much to bear.
We suggest stopping a few times to really breathe and take in the incredible scenery.
Every part of the hike seems like something out of an autumn fairy tale. It's picture-perfect through and through, much like the rest of Brown County and Brown County State Park.
There are plenty of opportunities to spot and appreciate wildlife along the way, too.
Ogle Lake Trail 7 is perfect for an afternoon to yourself to reset your busy brain, or for bringing the whole family along for some ridiculously scenic exercise.
This trail is among the most popular in the park, so plan accordingly.
To avoid crowds, you'll want to show up early in the morning, preferably during the week. That way, you have much of this incredible paradise to yourself.
...trust us when we say it's perfect for thinking or relaxing.
Or both, really.
