While the Hoosier State has some truly spectacular natural attractions, most don't associate gorgeous beaches with the great state of Indiana. Yet, as it turns out, there's an incredible shoreline near Gary that could compete with a number of spectacular beaches in the U.S. If you're looking for one last summer getaway, you'll want to take a trip to the Indiana Dunes Beach.
Let's take a look:
The town of Gary, Indiana is situated at the bottom of Lake Michigan's U-shaped curve.
While the town is not a conventional vacation stop, folks should reconsider the detour for the sole purpose of the fantastic stretch of coast nearby.
The Indiana Dunes Beach is an underrated attraction providing a natural respite from the industrial feel of northern Indiana.
From certain vantage points, beach-goers can see the iconic Chicago Skyline seemingly floating on the adjacent shore of Lake Michigan.
While you're in town, be sure to stop by Carmella's Cafe. This local joint frequently features live jazz musicians when the weather is nice.
With its soft saves, gentle waves, and gorgeous water, the beach is the ideal destination for the whole family.
So why not plan one last summer getaway before the summer completely winds to an end?
