Dolphins are sensitive, intelligent creatures, and they're absolutely fascinating to watch. Here in Indiana, the Indianapolis Zoo is home to 10 common bottlenose dolphins that are absolutely delightful to watch. And now, you can take your animal encounter to the next level, at the Zoo's Dolphin In-Water Adventure. For a next-level dolphin experience in Indiana, you need to visit the Indianapolis Zoo:
If you love animals, Indianapolis Zoo is the place to be. This 64-acre zoo is separated into five different biomes including Forests, Deserts, Oceans, Plains, Flights of Fancy, and Marine mammals.
The zoo is located in the heart of Downtown Indy, at 1200 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46222.
The Dolphin In-Water Adventure takes place in the St. Vincent Dolphin Pavilion in the Marine Mammals biome. The pavilion is home to all ten of the zoo's delightful dolphins. You'll want to say hello to Calypso, China, Hemingway, Indy, Jett, Kalei, Kimo, Nova, Orin, and Taz.
Your dolphin adventure starts with an in-classroom session where you'll learn all about dolphins and the training they receive at the zoo.
Next, you'll enjoy reserved seats at a dolphin presentation. Meet all of the dolphins and see them interact with their keepers in a unique show that highlights the dolphins' agility and intelligence.
After the show, it's time to meet the dolphins in person. Wade into the pool for a 30-minute dolphin session where trainers show you how to feed the dolphins and use signals for specific behaviors.
You'll be able to touch the dolphins and visit with them face-to-face. A souvenir towel and digital photo of you with a dolphin are included to preserve your memory of this incredible adventure.
Participants must be at least six years old and at least 54 inches tall. Those with special needs may be accommodated.
