There's no better way to keep warm during this time of year than by visiting some amazing hot springs in Idaho. Our state is chock full of naturally heated pools, so choosing which one to visit next can be a daunting task. In fact, the Gem State boasts the most soakable hot springs in the country with a whopping 130 different hot springs that are suitable for swimming in. This winter, consider visiting the rustic Zim's Hot Springs near New Meadows. The outdoor and perfectly heated pool is great for staying warm, even on the frostiest winter day.
No Idaho winter is complete until you've visited at least one hot spring, right? There are a lot of choices in our state when it comes to gorgeous soaking spots, but Zim's Hot Springs in Idaho is one that should definitely be on your radar.
Located in the small town of New Meadows, Zim's Hot Springs features outdoor pools that are fed by natural mineral water from an artesian well. Water from the well is cooled by the Little Salmon River and treated with chlorine for swimming.
Zim's Hot Springs has been around since the 1970s and it was operated by the Dixon family for the entirety of its existence until recently. The Nez Perce Tribe bought the hot springs earlier this year and currently own and operate the popular soaking destination.
The hot springs are open year-round, but winter is an especially great time to visit them. This region of Idaho can get to be downright frigid during the winter, but Zim's two outdoor pools are great for keeping warm while taking in the jaw-dropping winter scenery.
The two pools can vary in temperature, but in general, the smaller soaking pool maintains a temperature range between 103 and 106 degrees whereas the larger swimming pool ranges between 90 and 100 degrees. Entrance to the hot springs is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $6 for children.
Zim's also boasts amenities like restrooms and changing rooms, snacks and drinks, and RV and tent camping spots for overnight visits. There's even a lovely picnic area where you can take in the breathtaking scenery that surrounds the resort.
Check out one of Idaho's lesser-known but most charming hot springs and soak the winter away at Zim's Hot Springs this season. This rustic little resort is the ultimate winter relaxation destination!
