Snow tubing is one of our favorite winter activities. Fortunately, here in Idaho, there are numerous snow tubing hills all around the state. Located at Schweitzer Mountain in northern Idaho is one that is sure to make you squeal with delight. With snow tubing lanes that are up to 300 feet long, you are going to be in for one heart-racing winter journey.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort is located near Sandpoint in the Selkirk Mountains. It is one of the top ski resorts in Idaho with 92 trails, open bowl skiing, and an annual snowfall of 300 inches. While skiing and snowboarding draw in quite a crowd, the snow tubing at Schweitzer's Hermit’s Hollow Tubing Center cannot be overlooked.
Hermit’s Hollow features multiple snow tubing lanes that are approximately 300 feet long. You will have a blast soaring down these long lanes at high speeds — it’s a thrill we just can’t get enough of during the winter months.
Even better, once you reach the bottom of the hill, you can just sit back and let the tow rope pull you back to the top. This means you don’t have to use any extra energy and you can just enjoy ride after ride.
Because space is limited on the tubing lanes, you must make reservations in advance online or on the telephone. Each session is approximately 90 minutes, with most sessions beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the last session at 4 p.m. However, all hours are dependent on snow and weather conditions.
All riders must be at least 42 inches tall to ride down this snow tubing hill in Idaho. There is no minimum age requirement but all children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. It is also recommended that all participants wear goggles and a helmet, and no ski boots are allowed.
Snow tubing at Schweitzer Mountain is a great way to spend a winter day outdoors with the entire family. It is certainly one activity that will make you laugh, scream, and smile all at the same time.
