Boise, our capital city, is a beautiful place. While The City of Trees is quite remarkable when walking along its streets, it’s even more enchanting from above. The Table Rock Trail, which begins at Quarry View Park, is one loop trail that will take you to the most mesmerizing views of the city. However, to reach this incredible overlook, it is going to require a bit of physical and mental strength.
The Table Rock Trail is a popular hiking trail in Boise and hikers of all ages and skill levels love to conquer it.
This hiking trail in Idaho is rated moderate, but it is still a family-friendly hiking trail in Idaho. You will climb nearly 900 feet and will encounter some steep areas. Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities to take a break and recover.
The Table Rock Trail is accessible all year long but during the winter and early spring months, it can become quite muddy and icy. During the summer months, bring lots of water and sun protection as there is no shade along your way.
You will also climb over all types of terrain from gravel and dirt to rocks, so proper hiking shoes are an absolute must.
Once you reach the top of this loop trail in Idaho, you won’t regret it. You will come to the Table Rock Viewpoint, which will give you some of the most beautiful views of Boise and the surrounding area. On a clear day, you can see for miles.
There are benches at the viewpoint so you can capture gorgeous images, admire the scenery, and recover before you continue hiking.
At the overlook, you will also see Boise’s Table Rock Cross. This 60-foot cross was installed in 1956 by the Jaycees Club.
This cross has been met with much controversy as the cross was installed on government land. It is a debate that has led to protests and has made multiple headlines all over the Gem State.
As you head back down this trail, there are multiple routes you can take, allowing you to explore this area and maybe even find a little quiet in such a popular hiking area.
While it may be tempting to hike the Table Rock Trail to see the city lights, it is not allowed. This trail is closed to the public from dusk to dawn each day.
