Located just west of Coeur d'Alene, the city of Post Falls is a little-known paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Its idyllic location among mountains and the Spokane River means that there's always something to explore in this North Idaho community. For grand views of the river and its lush canyon surroundings, look no further than the Old Wagon Loop Trail. This is a family-friendly trail that showcases the incredible beauty that this region is known for!
A 78-acre park just south of the Spokane River, Q'emiln Park is a natural oasis in the city of Post Falls, Idaho. With picnic shelters, BBQ pits, a boat launch, climbing walls, and access to the Post Falls Community Forest, it's a fantastic park for all types of recreation.
You can experience the beauty of Q'emiln Park in all sorts of ways, but there's no going wrong with the Old Wagon Loop Trail. This 2.2-mile hike takes you across a variety of terrain and showcases the very best scenery the park has to offer.
The different trails in the park are marked by color, so be sure to pay attention to the color that coincides with the Old Wagon loop. Alternatively, since the trails are pretty interconnected, it can be fun to branch off and explore the different areas!
The great thing about the Old Wagon Loop is that it has something for everyone in regards to terrain and scenery. The views of the Spokane River are definitely memorable, especially when the river's flow is super strong.
The trail also boasts magnificent views of the canyon surrounding the river. A popular area for rock climbers, the rugged cliffs and lush scenery make it feel like a wild oasis despite being in the middle of a city.
Other parts of the trail will put you right in the middle of a forest! Surrounded by towering trees and dense foliage, it's the perfect place to escape the noise and simply be in nature.
