Have you been Googling waterfalls near me because you're seeking an epic waterfall chasing adventure in the Aloha State? Are you ready for what might be one of the most challenging hikes of your life, but one that also features a drop-dead gorgeous waterfall? Hawaii boasts some of the most gorgeous hiking trails in the world. One, however, certainly could compete for the most spectacular and beautiful hike of all. If you're up for a real challenge that's rewarded with unbelievable views, plan a journey along the Ka'au Crater Trail, a wondrous waterfall hike in Hawaii.
Ka'au Crater Trail in Oahu's Roundtop Forest Reserve isn't for the faint of heart and should, by all accounts, only be attempted by seasoned hikers.
The 7.3-mile trail has earned its rating of difficult, partially because you'll have to climb a waterfall. That can be challenging, slippery, and dangerous.
Nestled on private property, hikers are permitted to follow the trail that's brimming with tiny cascades and three large waterfalls.
Look for the handwritten sign, near a set of mailboxes, that announces the start of the trail. If you follow the handwritten signs along the way, you should have an easy time staying on the trail.
Experienced hikers recommend wearing extremely sturdy hiking boots, at a minimum. However, to make the climbs (such as up the waterfall), you might also want to wear spikes.
Since it's a strenuous hike, bring plenty of water and food. Some hikers have found that walking sticks have helped in slippery sections.
You definitely want to bring your camera along for this epic hike and the unforgettable views to which you'll be treated.
At one point, you'll be able to look out over...
...Ka'au Crater and...
...Honolulu, Diamond Head, Kailua, and Kaneohe.
Are you ready for the waterfall chasing adventure of a lifetime? What are you waiting for?
