We're all about the nature trails in Georgia. Luckily for us, we have the option to either traipse through the mountaintop trails or hit the coastal edge for completely different types of wildlife experiences. While the weather starts to get warm around many different parts of the state, it's time to start planning for the wildlife hike along Georgia's cost that is a true nature lover's dream.
The Fort McAllister State Historic Park Trails cover just shy of 3 miles and provide a bevy of wildlife wonderment.
This out-and-back trail is at an easy level and takes about an hour to complete for many.
But when you visit on a sunny, warm day in Georgia, you may just want to stay out for longer.
Fort McAllister was a large fortification during the Civil War, which went through many different battles and bombardments over time.
While there are still many different pieces of history left on the grounds to explore, it’s the hiking trail that is truly top notch.
Dog-friendly and extremely peaceful, wandering through the nature trails will give you unfettered access to Georgia coastal wildlife.
Make it up to the observation tower for nearly 360-degree views of the Georgia marshland and Ogeechee River.
