In case you don't feel like driving all the way out to the beach to take a refreshing dip this summer, we've found something a bit better - something that allows you to take the whole family and keep cool under the summer sun. Last year we mentioned a few fabulous waterparks in Georgia, so consider this a part two of sorts (except this version has a few more waterparks to add to the list, just in time for their summer season reopening)! Check it out...
1. Summer Waves Waterpark—210 S Riverview Dr, Jekyll Island, GA 31527
Located on the beautiful Jekyll Island, Summer Waves Waterpark is a wonderful place to take your whole family and splash around together. Kids three and under are free, plus they offer food and beverages inside the park, so you really can spend the whole day soaking up the summer waves.
2. Surf Lagoon Water Park—130 Towne Center Dr, Pooler, GA 31322
If you're looking for an alternative to avoiding sand getting stuck in places that it doesn't belong, then Surf Lagoon Water Park is an excellent option. The park doesn't get too crowded, and if you're lucky you'll catch one of the park ticket specials where ticket prices are cut in half!
3. Six Flags White Water—250 N Cobb Pkwy NE, Marietta, GA 30062
You already know that if it has "Six Flags" in the title, it's going to be a killer water park. It may bit a bit more crowded, due to popularity, but the rides are well worth the wait. Not only is there a thrill factor involved with some of the higher, faster slides, but you'll also stay cool throughout the day.
4. LanierWorld—7000 Lanier Islands Pkwy, Buford, GA 30518
This isn't your average water park. It doesn't focus entirely on the rides, but instead on the experience. Sure they have the WildWaves pool, plus the Raging River to tackle, however, since it's located on the lake, you can simply rent a tube and enjoy the park at your own leisure.
5. Wild Adventures Splash Island—3766 Old Clyattville Rd, Valdosta, GA 31601
This is what you can look forward to when you visit Wild Adventures this summer: thrill rides, water rides, animal exhibits, and concerts! If you feel like splurging, you can rent one of the VIP cabanas and have a guaranteed hideaway for the afternoon.
6. Seven Springs Water Park—3820 Macedonia Rd, Powder Springs, GA 30127
It might not be the biggest water park, but it sure does have some of the best admission prices around! For non-Cobb residents, it's still under $10 per person for the afternoon. That means you get 2 water slides, a lazy river, and a splash pas zone, plus concessions galore.
7. Splash in the Boro—1388 Hwy 24 E, Statesboro, GA 30461
This is one of the smaller water parks in the state, but just as enjoyable. There are a few big slides, plus a lazy river that you can float down at your leisure. It's a park that truly has something for people of all ages.
8. Browns Mill Aquatic Facility—4929 Browns Mill Rd, Lithonia, GA 30038
Fun for the entire bunch, Browns Mill Aquatic Facility is one of the more affordable water parks in the state. You can even get an annual pass for the whole family and splash around the entire summer.
9. St. Marys Aquatic Center—301 Herb Bauer Dr, Saint Marys, GA 31558
This seasonal family water park is 7 acres of recreational swimming in Southeast Georgia. The park features a two-story twister slide, a lazy river, and a lap pool! Admission prices are reasonable with adults at around $9.95 per person and children less than $7 per person. Fun for the whole family!
There you have it, some of the best ways to keep the entire family cool this summer.
How many of these parks have you been to? Any that you saw that you're going to add to your list? Let us know!
