There's nothing quite like going for a drive through the country and ending up at an overlook that simply takes your breath away. Or hiking up a mountain top, spending time and energy reaching the summit, only to be mesmerized by the scenic landscape below. Georgia truly does have some beautiful scenic country roads, but the overlooks may just take the cake as being the more magical choice. Here are 11 scenic overlooks in Georgia that'll instantly knock your socks off:

1. The Yonah Mountain Trail

Hiking this trail will lead to some incredible views. Although the hike is not for the faint of heart, it clocks in at around 4.4 miles. But once you reach the Yonah Mountain summit near Helen, Georgia, you'll remember why you worked up the sweat in the first place.

2. Anna Ruby Falls Observation Deck

There are two separate observation decks near Anna Ruby Falls, and both offer some pretty phenomenal views of the waterfall. Just take the main trail to the falls, which is less than half a mile, and you'll reach the wooden observation deck.

3. The Arkaquah Trail at Brasstown Bald

This trail is listed as a bit more strenuous than most, but the sweeping views of the mountains below are worth the time it takes to hike it. You don't even need to hike the entire trail to see the intensity that some overlooks provide.

4. Providence Canyon

Ahh, Georgia's Little Grand Canyon. This is a popular spot for many visitors who are interested in seeing the 150 feet gullies located on 1,000 acres of land. You don't need to hike like crazy to appreciate these overlooks.

5. Hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains

There are quite a few hikes in Georgia that provide incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In fact, there are more than 30 miles of trails for both hikers and cyclists. Choose your trail that fits your exercise level, and take off for some picture-perfect sunset views.

6. Rabun Bald from the Bartram Trail

At 4696 feet, Rabun Bald is second highest point in Georgia. This means that by hiking to this spectacular scenic overlook, you're checking off more than one item from your adventure bucket list.

7. The Overlook at Stone Mountain

On a great day, you can peer off from the Overlook at Stone Mountain Park and see the Atlanta skyline in all her glory. In fact, there are quite a few overlooks in Stone Mountain Park, but this one may just be our favorite.

8. Cowee Overlook Black Rock Mountain

This overlook provides sweeping views toward Mountain City, which is the town right next to Black Rock Mountain State Park. It’s the best part about finishing the hike, is being able to sit at the overlook and enjoy the sensational views from above.

9. Popcorn Overlook, Clayton Georgia

If you’re going to head to Popcorn Overlook about 15 miles west of Clayton, Georgia, make sure you go during the fall. Even though the overlook is open year-round, when you visit in autumn, you’ll be able to appreciate the beautiful fall foliage and changing of the leaves.

10. Cloudland Canyon Overlook Trail

Though we recommend all the paths, bike trails, and waterfall views in this park, you'll definitely find more extensive overlooks along the West Rim Trail. Cloudland Canyon State Park is filled with beauty and wonder, so make sure you take time to stop and appreciate the view.

11. Lookout Mountain: Point Park to Sunset Rock

When you hike from Point Park to Lookout Mountain, you'll be in awe of the magnificent views of downtown Chattanooga and the Tennessee River. Sunset Rock is where you'll be able to snap some photos and see for miles into our neighboring state.
