There are plenty of great beaches in Georgia. Our barrier islands are beautiful. You'll find many visitors to places like Jekyll Island and Tybee Island, particularly in the summertime months when tourism hits its peak. But did you know we've also got a remote island in the Peach State were you can find all kinds of peace? Little Tybee Island is just off the coast of the more famous Tybee Island, but you can only reach it via boat or kayak. Due to the remote location, it doesn't get nearly the number of visitors you'll find at the better-known Tybee Island. This place is stunning!
Little Tybee Island is separated from Tybee Island by the Back River. It's only accessible by boat.
If you don't have a boat, there are several marinas on Tybee with boats, jet skis, and kayaks for rent. All are appropriate methods for reaching Little Tybee Island.
Tybee Island can get a little bit crazy with partying and tourists, but you'll find a peaceful paradise at Little Tybee.
This 6,780-acre preserve is completely uninhabited.
Despite the diminutive name, Little Tybee Island is actually about twice the size in acreage of its more famous "relative."
This is an amazing place to stroll through. The marshlands support a variety of wildlife.
Keep your eyes peeled as you walk along the beautiful beach: plenty of shark teeth and shells wash up on shore!
Keep in mind when traveling out to Little Tybee Island that the tide changes occur every six hours and can be pretty dramatic.
